To Be

there's reason abounding to stay put together
a purpose to fear the slightest of scratch
just yesterday it seemed i'd have quickly embraced
an adventure resulting in bruises and scars, stumbles and falls
now there's this apple i see day after day,
it's at the end of the string, at the end of the week.
what would i do if i stumbled and fell
in this desert of mine one step away from the well?
every second i own i need to withstand
i have to make it, i have to be whole
give all the risks to somebody's friend
give up the bravery to a wandering soul
and let me be safe, let me live to the end
it's the page of the book that never gets old
